Musinguzi Polycarp.
I am currently in my last year at Makerere University pursuing A Bachelors Degree in Social Work And Social Administration with a dream to enroll for a masters degree after my bachelors.
I am a dynamic, self motivated and committed young person with keen interest in taking action against pertinent issues in modern society. Specifically, I have a strong desire to seek to usher positive change & transformation of the lives of the most vulnerable, deprived and highly at risk communities and to create a society devoid of nepotism and negative ethnicity.
i have time and again worked with Orphans and vulnerable children, widows, refugees and victims of torture among others to help them living rewarding, fruitful, satisfactory and meaningful livelihoods in many parts of Uganda and beyond.
Given chance, i would like to pursue further studies and be at the helm of aggitating for respect of the fundamental inalienable human rights and freedoms of society's most marginalised and neglected individuals, groups and communities. With viable partnerships and collaboration with other individuals, groups and Organisations with similar interests, we can provide a rock solid front that can provide lasting solutions to society's most pressing problems.
I am a 21 year old hardworking, dynamic and self motivated individual, with strong organizational, analytical as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
I am a self regulated and dedicated team player with more than a passing need to establish effective and friendly relationships with other colleagues, fellow employees, partners and the general public.
I am sincere, honest, enthusiastic, zealous, flexible, and adaptive, with excellent communication skills, able to produce efficient results, set priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Assemble appropriate information for subsequent inclusion in project reports, concept papers, success stories, public relations materials etc and fully participate in the preparation of these documents.
Collaborate with project staff to compile and re- arrange COPE (Community-Based Prphan Care Protection and Empowerment)project documentations per newly introduced documentation and knowledge management systems.
Assist in documentation of Africare / Ntungamo field experiences for possible publication in national and international journals for program visibility and attracting more resources to scale up good practices beyond current geographical coverage.
Provide support in preparing and editing project reports, concept papers and proposals of strategic importance.
Assist in capacity building for project staff and partners including organizing symposiums, seminars, conferences and workshops for the public to learn about Africare work and explore possibilities of taking to scale best practices in Uganda and beyond
Work closely with COPE field officers in consultation with the PC to undertake field activities, work with beneficiaries and provide all forms of support for field activities.
Achievements
COPE project evaluation
I participated in the final evaluation of the COPE project given the fact that it is phasing out come end of June 2010. The evaluation was contracted by Dr. Muhangi Denis from the Department of SWSA- Makerere University. My roles in the evaluation included interviewing and recording among others. I also worked as team leader and coordinator during the eleven days’ evaluation.
OVC artisan Graduation.
I participated in organizing a graduation function of 60 OVC who had completed courses in relevant user friendly disciplines of their own choice. These courses included Carpentry & Joinery, Welding & Metal fabrication, Computer, mechanics Hairdressing and Tailoring.
The graduation and hand over of start up kits falls under SO5 of the Africare COPE project aimed at increasing incomes of out school OVC and their caregivers.
Distribution of scholastics and health care items to OVC
On several occasions, I was delegated to preside over the distribution of scholastics to beneficiary OVC in the selected supported schools in Ntungamo District.
Report writing.
During the course of my ten weeks internship, I compiled data on different activities in which I had participated and later produced two activity reports which I would avail to the COPE project staff for sharing.
